Nhava Sheva Freeport Terminal Private Limited (NSFT) is a joint venture between JM Baxi Ports & Logistics and CMA Terminals, a part of CMA-CGM Group. NSFT is located in Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPA) in Maharashtra, which is India's largest and premier container gateway. It serves the important industrial and manufacturing centres and cities in Northwest, Central and Part of Southwest India, as well as India's other hinterlands.
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) has issued the Letter of Award (LOA) for the work of upgradation, Operation, Maintenance and Transfer (UOMT) of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Container Terminal to Nhava Sheva Free Port Terminal Pvt Ltd (NSFT) and the concession Agreement was signed on 29th July 2022. Nhava Sheva Free Port Terminal (NSFT) commenced operation of this container terminal on 14th Feb'23.
NSFT, after taking over the terminal from JNPA, has immediately initiated maintenance / repair of the critical machinery / items in the existing container handling equipment. With a continuous efforts put in by the NSFT team, the equipment reliability has improved considerably and thereby improving the productivity and terminal performance month after month.
NSFT is equipped with state of art container handling infrastructure and can handle vessel of 15 m draft. Present terminal capacity is 0.6 million TEUs which will be enhanced to 1.8 million TEUs by 2025. The terminal is well equipped with modern infrastructure including Post Panamax STS cranes, 580 reefer plug points, 2 full length rail sidings and fully computerized environment with NAVIS SPARCS N 4 as Terminal Operating System. NSFT will be able to handle 12,000-TEU vessels after completion of the terminal expansion.
NSFT is using the latest version of Terminal Operating System (Navis N4) for planning the vessel, yard and rail operation. The TOS is integrated with E Form 13 and Focus system (Invoicing system) which enables paperless transaction between customers / shipping lines and NSFT for handling containers in the terminal. NSFT has also installed Radio Data Terminals (RDT) equipment in the yard and Hand-Held Terminals (HHT) are used for carrying real time up-dation of data and enhancing productivity.
Latest technology is already implemented in the terminal, which will facilitate tracking of all activities performed in real time thereby improving efficiency in the operation and reducing operating costs. Expanding the scope of digitalisation in the terminal will ensure its competitiveness within the region and will optimise the efficiency of its activities and productivity.

NSFT has a well-established road and rail connectivity to the country's major cargo generating hinterlands which makes it the Terminal of Choice. India's vas hinterland is connected to the terminal via the most important National Highways i.e. NH3 and NH4 & NH8 via NH-4B and state Highway SH-54.
Terminal has 2 railway siding through which it is linked to the inland container depots like Pune, Nagpur, Ahmadabad, Hyderabad, NCR Region & Ludhiana etc through rail, which ensure seamless connectivity and efficient operation.
The Terminal is connected via Both Rail and Road to India's major highways and rail networks, which gives access to neighbouring Mumbai and to the hinterland of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh in North India, and Karnataka, Goa, Tamilnadu in South India.
